5 girls from class 1 chose a sailing expedition for their gold international award. The prospect of sun, sea and sandy beaches seemed to them more appealing than hiking long distances carrying heavy backpacks, like on typical IA expeditions. I can’t think why. There were however other challenges like learning how to sail, being independent on a boat for a week, living together in a confined space, planning meals, cooking on board etc.
The girls sailed for 8 hours a day covering around 180km by the end of the trip. They learned a lot about sailing and and enjoyed the culture around Croatia. They did extremely well and were all very pleased to earn their gold award for expeditoining. Well done!
